Exposure to Pharmacy Museum is located in the former premises of the Red Crayfish pharmacy on the ground floor of the Baroque town house. The Barbican was built by Michael's Gate with the adjacent ditch. In the 18th century. Classicist facade of the house was covered by eighteenth-century stone portal. On the facade are original pharmacy signboards of metal acanthus ornaments and crayfish from the 19th century. from Bratislava Márton blacksmith business.
The original Red Crayfish pharmacy is mentioned in the 16th century. and located in the five rooms on the second half of the 18th century. until its cancellation and surrender for museum purposes in 1953.
Pharmaceutical collection of 8,500 objects and 2,880 bundles of old pharmaceutical literature is among the most numerous in the museum and is unique of its kind in Slovakia. Includes original equipment parts pharmacies, the oldest dates back to the 16th century. Baroque and classical furniture and most of faience, stoneware, glass, wood and tin containers for storage of drugs produced in Slovakia. The craft shops in our area come and oldest dispensing packaging, simple tools to produce pharmaceutical products, laboratory utensils and metal signboards. Until the beginning of unification of pharmacies in the second half of the 19th century, both by contributing to a distinctive, own individual character of each individual pharmacy.
