Into museums, education and pedagogy in Bratislava followed up with the tradition of the school museum, which in the second half of the 19th century laid V. Ľ. Rizner (1849 - 1913) exhibition at the school in Zemianske Podhradie. The idea of ​​founding of the Slovak educational museum pioneered in 1925, later Minister of Education of the Slovak Republic Jozef Sivák (1886-1959) and teacher Peter Straka (1904-1980) is credited with the creation of the first such device - Teaching and Heritage Museum in Malacky in 1928.
Museum in Bratislava was established by the Minister of Education College in 1970 as a separate Slovak educational library. It is now part of the Institute of Information and Prognoses of Education.
The role of the museum is a museum documenting the development of education resources and education in our country. As part of the museum's mission focused in their funds almost 40 000 objects of 16 - 20 century. This is mainly for school equipment (inventory classes Cabinet), teaching aids, textbooks, school books and teaching the subject matter, documentary material (certificates, indexes, class books, school books) or photographs, films and other imagery.
